Grayson POV:

We were more unprepared this time. I woke up to a searing body next to me, she writhed

underneath the sheets, twisting as her face scrunched.

“Shit!” I growled as I picked up my wife and placed her in the shower turning it all the way

down she woke up as the water stream hit her.

“Grayson!” She whined her skin molten.

I held her for a second before scrambling to find my phone I called Elizebeth and ordered her to bring me all the ice we had.

I clung onto Netta as we lay in the shower my mind flipping between past and present. It felt like seconds and an eternity ago that we had been here. She hadn’t mentioned any wolf dreams to me this time.

But she could still get pregnant…

I thought of her being ripped from me and Christian again in the exact same fashion, it gripped hold of me and I froze for a second.

But then her hand reached up to my face, still warm in the frozen downpour. I wouldn’t let

that happen this time. I pulled her up to me. My body was like a cure for her. Whatever

torrential fever in her I could take care of it.

Chapter 139

Elizebeth brought us the ice and put it in the tub before she and Matt went out to get some more. I laid her in the tub and she groaned as a cramp hit her.

I wiped her hair out of her face and kissed her forehead hot to the touch still but hopefully,

she would calm down.

Normal heats weren’t as bad as this, but she was a full–blooded alpha. I looked over her in the tub, even had thought this was normal the last time around seeing it an honor to be the one to care for her. Instead, I should have opened my eyes to the unnatural pain she endured due to her potent blood.

Kept adding ice to her bath and eventually her fever came down. I took her to the bed and watched over her throughout the night the same way I did last time watching her, feeding her, and making sure she drank.

“Don’t apologize, you lived through it and I took care of it,” I kissed her hand and then wrapped my arm around her. “I don’t like that you put this on yourself it’s my job as your mate to take care of you during this,”

“Oh, we- I know that because of my strength, it’s a lot- I don’t have the ability to control myself-” is he mumbled.

“You shouldn’t have to control yourself, not between us….Don’t blame yourself for something

that is far beyond your control” I felt as if I had just opened my eyes to the world she had

She looked up at me quite for a while then put her head under mine. “Thank you,”

“How did you conquer that? When you were young?” I asked her tentatively. I wasn’t sure I wanted to know the answer, and I was sure the answer was something I wouldn’t like.

My wife avoided my gay again, ” well, um I…” she sighed before beginning again. “I never let in really. I felt it and all that it had and I shoved it deep down so it couldn’t get out,”

I closed my eyes nodding. ” you didn’t tell anyone?”

you mean, they only cared that you were still you,” I corrected her. I knew what had been expected of her, what everyone thought of a family like hers.

They were proud, regal, and perfect.

Now, now Seraphine has control of it, but it’s hers, not mine,” my wife looked slightly scared as she spoke. ” she won’t hurt anyone, well at least anyone that doesn’t deserve it,”

I smirked at that, I knew who Seraphine had in mind and I wouldn’t get in her way.

I watched her carefully over the next couple of days the way she trained was different, very stoic and cold, calculated and precise. She had one target in mind and I didn’t think anyone was going to stop

her.

Enzo was proud his mate had come back with a vengeance and she was unstoppable. I knew

that our mates saw it differently, a dark part of them had been uncovered. I don’t think the

beast would ever go back in its cage it was out now for the world to see.

She would’nt spar with Elizabeth anymore because she was afraid to hurt her only going against her brothers and even then she didn’t hold back.

She still held the same tenderness for me and our son but even her own family now sat in

another layer of people. Outsiders, at least to Seraphine.

Chapter 139

I hoped when this was over and her vengeance sated she would abate and let my wife let go of these protective tendencies. Whenever she stepped into the training ring her features darkened and her mind clouded. I almost couldn’t reach her.

Seraphine’s voice entered my mind and I smiled as I sat in my office dwelling on my wife and her misfortunes.

Even when possessed by anger she’s the sensible one. I shouldn’t get in her way as long as this doesn’t take hold of her too long it won’t be a problem and I know she’d never hurt our son. Only time would tell if this side of her would mellow.
